Carbon Storage

Feasibility Studies

This service is being designed to offer site appraisal to confirm the feasibility of a broad range of underground rock formations as sites to permanently store carbon dioxide captured from oil and gas operations, power plants, factories, transportation, and other sources of emissions.

Strados is committed to supporting the energy transition and decarbonisation strategies.

This service provides carbon storage site appraisal for energy companies committed to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), an essential technology for delivering the 2050 Net-Zero ambition. That includes initiatives from E&P companies pursuing decarbonisation projects for upstream oil and gas, low-emission asset operations; gas power and utility companies committed to reducing emissions or transitioning to cleaner energies such as hydrogen; and companies or consortiums created to develop and provide clean energy projects by removing industry, transport, and heat emissions.

Our approach to confirm the feasibility of sites candidates is to implement all of the exploration methods and subsurface knowledge capabilities deployed for decades in the fossil fuel industry to characterise and model the geological features and dynamical behaviour of a broad range of underground rock formations. That includes but is not limited to ensuring the feasibility of reusing and repurposing depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs as sites for safely storing carbon dioxide captured permanently.

Developing our approach to CCS projects is a work in progress in Strados, and we expect to have this service available soon after completing our research and development process.
